Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 vs Z Fold 2
Samsung is always innovating.
Samsung is expected to launch its next top-tier foldable phone, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 on August 11. Some specifications of the new foldable phone were revealed after it passed through China’s TENAA certification process.
Although Samsung did not officially confirm any specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the rumors about it seem too good to be true. As expected, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be quite different from the Z Fold 2 which was released in September 2020, but despite that, the latter should not be underestimated.
Since the Z Fold 2 was an improved model of the first Galaxy Fold, What should we expect from the Z Fold 3?
The future of foldable phones is expected to be slimmer, lighter, and easier to use with one hand.
Thanks to TENAA’s listing of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (SM-F9260) and the leaked images, with them, we have been able to draw some fats.
The leaked images of the Z Fold 3 made it appear to have less air gap between the two sides when it is folded hence, a thinner body as anticipated.

Now, let’s compare the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 vs Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 vs Z Fold 2 specs and performance
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to do much better than the Z Fold 2 because it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, with 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512 GB storage capacity unlike the Z fold 2 that is powered by Snapdragon 865. Both phones are powerful but the newer processor makes computational photography faster which will be needed to calculate all those S Pen inputs and digitizer doodling on the Z Fold 3’s display.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 vs Z Fold 2 battery and charging
There is no much rumor about the battery size of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 but it is suspected to be the same with Z Fold 2. However, the expected capacity seems small for the device which has two powerful displays; a larger battery capacity would have been more preferable. Also, just like every other Samsung flagship phone, Z Fold 3 offers 25W wired charging as well as 11W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 vs Z Fold 2 design and display
The Z Fold 3 is most likely going to look like Z Fold 2. The vertically-folding, book-style design is set to continue for the Z Fold 3 with a large display unfolding to a larger internal display. However, reports reveal that Z Fold 3 is coming with exciting features. Unlike its predecessor, the Galaxy Z fold 3 is rumored to have no physical buttons on the phone, only capacitive sensors. The phone also guarantees that its delicate hinge mechanism won’t be damaged by water or dust because it has an IPX8 rating.
It was also revealed that the Smartphone measures 158.2 x 128.1 x 6.4mm when it is unfolded and 158.2 x 67.1 x 14.4mm when folded unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 2 measure 159.2 x 128.2 x 6.9 and 159.2 x 68.0 x 13.8-16.8 when folded. This simply means that the expected phone is slightly thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 2 (which is 6.9mm thin).
Since Samsung stated that it designed an S Pen specifically for foldables, the Z Fold 3 is expected to support S Pen.
We are also expecting a Galaxy Z Fold 3 with a more streamlined rear camera housing as well as a tougher frame.
Its display is expected to be the same as its predecessor with a 6.23-inch screen on the outside, offering a 2268 x 832-pixel resolution, and an inside display claimed to be 7.56-inches with a resolution of 2208 x 1768 pixels.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 vs. Galaxy Z Fold 2 Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a triple camera on the rear which are a 12-megapixel (f/1.8) main camera, a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor (f/2.4), and 12-megapixel (f/2.2) ultra-wide camera. The front camera has a 10-megapixel punch-hole front camera and a 10-megapixel punch hole camera at the top of the main display.
The new Z Fold 3 is expected to also come with a triple rear camera too. They will all be made up of a 12-megapixel main camera (f/1.8), 12-megapixel telephoto sensor (f/2.4), and 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera (f/2.2) too. It is also expected to offer Autofocus on all three lenses. A 10-megapixel punch-hole front camera will be on the cover display, while a newly introduced 16-megapixel or 4-megapixel under-display camera will be on the main display.
We are expecting a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 with new features, a tougher body including water-proofing, and a faster processor. Its under-display camera and S-Pen make the new phone more classy.
